Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has revealed captain Reda Johnson and trialist Marcus Tudgay will miss this evening's game against Serie A side Chievo Verona.
The City captain joined the Sky Blues in Italy after he completed 90 minutes for Benin in the 1-0 win over Malawi on Sunday.
Trialist Tudgay played against AS Roma B on Monday as goals from Shaun Miller and Danny Pugh secured a 2-0 win for the Sky Blues.
Both players are set to miss tonight's game against Chievo Verona but City boss Pressley has been delighted with what he has seen from the younger players in the squad.
Pressley said: "Marcus Tudgay is going to miss tonight's game as he is suffering from a bit of tightness after Monday's game.
"Reda Johnson is also going to miss tonight's game as he played 90 minutes on Sunday for Benin and he probably wasn't ready for that.
"I'm always for the emergence of young players and it has good to see some young players show what they can do during the pre-season.
"I spoke about Ivor Lawton's performance after the Roma game because he played the 90 minutes but I could have praised any player who played as there were some excellent performances. We'll be looking for the same tonight."
Chievo Verona finished in 16th place in Serie A last season and will start their seventh consecutive season of Serie A football in August.
The City boss has praised the quality of opposition ahead of this evening's game and believes the test will improve City's sharpness.
He added: "The game will provide us with a real test as we're up against a side who play possession football so they will work us around the pitch.
"We're looking for fitness whilst we're out here and playing against a team of Chievo's quality will do that. It will also improve our sharpness which is crucial in preparing for the new season.
"I was really pleased with the side on Monday and how they approached the game in difficult conditions. It was great for us in terms of fitness but also our ball retention was terrific. It is exactly the type of DNA we want to evolve in the squad, to play the game with the right attitude."
