Coventry City Girls FC all set for Coventry City's Boxing Day clash with a bucket collection

24 December 2015

The CCFCG hope to raise vital funds with a bucket collection at the Ricoh Arena with players and parents present...

The Sky Blues will be joined by Coventry City Girls FC for the Boxing Day fixture against Port Vale.

The partnership between Coventry City Girls FC, Coventry City and Sky Blues in the Community was officially launched in September, and has seen the organisations work closely together on a number of initiatives over the past few months. That will continue, as Coventry City Girls are welcomed to the Ricoh Arena for a bucket collection prior to the Boxing Day game to help raise vital funds for the club and also for Breast Cancer charities.

Coventry City Girls are an FA charter standard club who were founded in 1995 and now have seven teams ranging from Under-10 to Under-18 who play in the Coventry & Warwickshire league, and also a first-team who play in the West Midlands League.

Players and parents from Coventry City Girls FC will be outside the Ricoh Arena from 1:30pm up until kick-off and all donations are welcome.

SBitC Director Dave Busst said: "We're delighted with how our partnership with Coventry City Girls FC has developed during the last couple of months, and we’re really excited by the potential which can be met through our work together.

"They are a grassroots club who are dedicated to helping girls get into the game, so raising their profile and funding is vital for what they do and it’s great to be able to welcome them to such a high profile game, with a large attendance expected.”

Iain Dixon, chair of CCGFC said: "We're delighted to be doing a bucket collection at the Port Vale game. It’s a great opportunity for us to raise more money to support what we are doing at the club, and also a chance for us to support the Sky Blues in another big game for them. ”
