In the 12 days leading up to Christmas we're giving Sky Blues supporters a '12 days of Christmas' feature, where every day in the build up to the big day we'll be reflecting on legends and big matches, as well as offering some fantastic competitions to celebrate the festive period. On Day Five of our 12 days, we look at one of our best ever wins in Round Five of the FA Cup, where the Sky Blues beat Aston Villa at Villa Park in 1998...Coventry City progressed from Round Five of the FA Cup at the expense of local rivals Aston Villa in February 1998.
The only goal of the tight encounter came from Romanian Viorel Moldovan 18 minutes from time, to make sure City won the derby to progress into the FA Cup Quarter-Finals.
Moldovan's strike was only one of two goals he scored for the club as the Sky Blues ended Villa's ten-game unbeaten streak against them in derby matches.
