'Win every remaining game' - Webster

17 April 2014

The Scottish centre-back has also reflected on the 2013/14 season as he prepares to face Swindon...

Coventry City defender Andy Webster has urged the the Sky Blues squad to win all four of the remaining games in the 2013/14 League One season.

Swindon Town face City tomorrow at Sixfields in a Good Friday clash, where you can take advantage of the club's special 'Kids for a quid' offer.

City travel to Boundary Park on Monday to face Oldham Athletic before Coventry's final two games of the season against promotion-winners Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield United.

The Sky Blues need to bounce back from back-to-back defeats against MK Dons and Peterborough, and Webster wants to see a response from the Sky Blues.

Answering whether one win will be enough to guarantee safety, the 31-year old said: "Four wins will be enough. Our attitude always has to be to win games.

"League position doesn't matter as you always have to go into every game with that attitude. For any team, when you win games, it builds momentum.

"We want to take the momentum from this season and into pre-season. We must continue to build confidence. Momentum is priceless so whenever you have a chance to build it, it must be taken.

"You look at the results this season and it shows it doesn't matter where the team is in the league, we always have a chance so I don't see any reason why we can't win every game."

The Scottish defender joined the Sky Blues from Hearts in August at the start of the season and has made 43 appearances for City, scoring three goals.

With the end of the season fast approaching, Webster reflected on what City have achieved this season but also how lessons can be learnt.

He added: "I think we started the season brilliantly. With the ten-point deduction, we put a huge emphasis on winning games and we did exceptionally well.

"We had great momentum in the early part of the season and it was great to play in as the football we were playing was brilliant.

"I think recently our form has been indifferent and showed how we can improve. Over the course of the season, most teams dip slightly but it is all about how you respond.

"It is important for the players to progress in the team and continue to improve."
