"My first ever goal came against David Beckham. I want to make an impact." - Coventry City's Andy Rose

The 24-year old has also revealed he feels he could slot into the City midfield but knows there is tough competition...

Coventry City midfielder Andy Rose has set his sights on a first-team berth following his move to the Sky Blues.

The 24-year old midfielder has linked up with the City squad this week after signing for City on an 18-month contract.

Rose was previously with MLS side Seattle Sounders where he made 82 appearances, scoring five goals, playing with the likes of Obafemi Martin and Clint Dempsey.

With competition for places in Tony Mowbray's first-team high, Rose is desperate to make an impact for the Sky Blues as soon as possible.

Rose said: "Coventry are playing some really attractive football and I think the formation City play will really suit me.

"I think I could find my way in there as one of the two central midfielders but obviously, there is an awful lot of competition at the moment.

"When a team is towards the top of the table, it's because they've been doing well so I don't expect to break into the team straight away but I'll be pushing for a place.

"I've developed into more of a box-to-box midfielder but I need to listen and do what the manager wants me to do as the system the club have played this season has worked really well."

Seattle Sounders are one of the biggest teams in the US, with the highest average attendance in the MLS, in a league which has seen world stars attracted to it in recent years.

Rose revealed that his first goal for the Sounders came against none other than David Beckham and LA Galaxy in his first season.

He added: "Training with the likes of Obafemi Martins and Clint Dempsey has done wonders for my game and has definitely improved me as a player.

"I've obviously played against the likes of Steven Gerrard at LA Galaxy which to any English player is a dream come true and is definitely an experience I'll always remember.

"My first ever goal in my first season for Seattle Sounders was against LA Galaxy and David Beckham which was pretty good as obviously I'm a huge Beckham fan.

"Also played against David Villa this season so it's a great experience and I believe the standard over there has got much better which has definitely improved me."
