Coventry City have put themselves at the top end of the table when it comes to their commitment to affordable football.
The Sky Blues released Season Tickets earlier in May and revealed that prices were being cut by around 25 per cent to make it cheaper to watch Tony Mowbray’s side every week during the 2015/16 campaign.
And, compared with other clubs in League One, City’s £249 Season Ticket price for adults puts them fourth in the ‘affordability’ table during its early bird period that ends on June 30.
Chief executive Steve Waggott said: “I am pleased that, compared to other clubs in our division next season, we come out so favourably and the feedback we’ve had from supporters is fantastic.
“When I spoke to fans before the end of last season they all said they wanted the club to secure Tony Mowbray’s services as manager and also make watching their team more affordable.
“I am absolutely delighted that we have been able to deliver both of those.
“As well as the much cheaper, flat rate price for adults, we’ve also brought down the price for concessions and junior Season Tickets – as well as maintaining our free JSB Season Ticket for under-12s in the family zone.
“We’ve had a great response since Tony Mowbray signed on the dotted line and we hope to see even stronger sales over the next couple of weeks. If we can get 11,000 plus through the turnstiles each week, it will undoubtedly assist our push for promotion – and Season Ticket holders will play a big part in that.”
The club introduced a flat rate for Season Tickets of £249 for adults who buy in the early-bird period, which is £96 cheaper than a standard zone Season Ticket last season and equates to less than £11 per match.
There is no longer a premium zone at the Ricoh Arena as blocks 19, 20 and 21 will enjoy standard zone pricing, while the family zone is moving to blocks 23 and 24 in the East Stand.
And the club’s commitment to attracting the next generation of Coventry City fans remains firm, with Junior Sky Blues (JSBs) under the age of 12 eligible for a free Season Ticket in the family zone.
JSBs between 12 and 16 have seen their Season Tickets in the family zone reduced to £23, which is just £1 per game.
Concessions Season Tickets have also dropped to £191 from £230 in the standard zone last season, and that equates to just over £8 per game.
Head of marketing Mark Hornby said: “We come out very favourably in the cheapest adult Season Ticket price but, as we have a flat rate, we believe we’d be even better off when comparing prices with what other clubs have set as their premium areas.
“It also doesn’t compare concession or children’s tickets and, once again, we have set prices extremely low for those supporters.
“We’re looking forward to a busy few weeks.”
Early Bird Season Tickets are now on sale and will rise to full price on Wednesday, July 1.
