Defender turns loan stay into two-and-a-half-year deal with the Sky Blues

Coventry City have signed full-back Blair Adams on a two-and-a-half year contract from Sunderland.

The 21-year-old has been on-loan with the Sky Blues from the Premier League club since mid-November and has played 15 games for City in league and cup.

He made his debut in the 5-0 win over Hartlepool on November 17 and has started every match since.

Manager Mark Robins said: “I am delighted to secure a player of Blair’s potential for Coventry City Football Club.

“He has proven capable of playing at a consistent level and he will, I am sure, be an asset to us.

“He also has the personal qualities I am looking for in players I recruit. He is professional and determined to succeed and we welcome him to Coventry City on a permanent contract.”

Adams is the club’s third permanent signing since the January transfer window opened following on from Leon Clarke, who signed a two-and-a-half year deal, and Franck Moussa, who turned his short-term deal into an 18-month contract.
