'I want to play 40 games' - Adams

City defender speaks about his first 12 months with the Sky Blues

Coventry City left back Blair Adams says he has had ‘a good year’ whilst talking about the time he has spent with the club.

The 22-year-old has impressed since joining the Sky Blues from boyhood club Sunderland 12 months ago, and has become a mainstay in Steven Pressley’s first team.

But even he has expressed surprise at the start that City have had, with the side currently eight games unbeaten in all competitions.

“There’s a lot of quality in the squad but even we’re surprised at how well we’re doing,” he said.

“Obviously there’s a long way to go but we’ve been playing superbly and hopefully we can continue to do so.”

Adams has remained injury free this season, which has seen him enjoy a prolonged period in the side. And he is confident that he has shaken off the injury that kept him out for the last two and a half months of last season.

“It was important to come back and play for that last game (against Notts County), and then from there I wanted to continue into pre-season in good shape.”

Adams has also been playing in a more attacking role in recent games, something he says that he enjoys.

“I really enjoy getting forward as much as I can, getting on the ball all the time and providing attacking options. But I’m happy to play anywhere the gaffer wants me to play.”

Adams has appeared in 31 games during his first 12 months with City, but says that he has enjoyed it all.

“It’s been eventful, there have been some massive highs and a few lows, but overall it has been a good year.”
