OFFICIAL: Coventry City FC have appointed Russell Slade as Manager until the end of the 2016/17 season

The ex-Charlton boss will take charge of the Sky Blues for the first time against Bristol Rovers on Boxing Day...

The Club are delighted to announce that Russell Slade will take over as Coventry City Manager with immediate effect.

Slade joins the Sky Blues until the end of the current season and will make the trip to Bristol Rovers for his first fixture in charge.

The 56-year old parted company with Charlton Athletic at the beginning of this season, while has also spent time in charge of Brighton and Hove Albion, Leyton Orient and Championship side Cardiff City during a managerial career spanning 22 years. 

Technical Director, Mark Venus said: “We are delighted to welcome Russell Slade to Coventry City as the Club’s new manager. 

“We’re pleased to have secured the services of a highly-rated manager who has experience both at League One level and higher. 

“Russell has been at football clubs in challenging circumstances before and has experience of steering them through to safety.

“The Club believe that Russell is the right man to take Coventry City forward and hope that everyone will give him their full support.”
