MATCH REPORT: Coventry City 0-0 Crystal Palace - City's Under-23 side in goalless draw against Palace

City's Under-23 side share the spoils in a dull encounter against Crystal Palace...

Nicky Eaden’s Under-23 side had to settle for a point, as they drew 0-0 against Crystal Palace in a game of few chances.

The visiting side began the better of the two, as Randell Williams should have opening the scoring just three minutes in. A ball was slipped through the City defence, but the winger couldn’t convert, chipping over Addai and wide of the goal.

The Sky Blues’ first sight at goal came from a central free kick around 25 yards from goal. Bilal Sayoud stepped over it, but couldn’t make clean enough contact to trouble the Palace ‘keeper.

In what was arguably the best chance of the half, Kwesi Appiah forced Addai into a solid save, as the stopper denied the striker with a one-handed save after his header from six-yards looked goal bound.

Palace continued to have the better of the limited chances in the match, as this time Addai saved well down low to deny Andrews. The rebound fell back to the forward, who chipped an effort at goal, but the crossbar saved the Sky Blues.

City responded as Sayoud looked to threaten the Palace defence. Chris Camwell provided the decoy run on the left allowing the winger to cut inside onto his right foot, but his effort was deflected into the arms of the ‘keeper.
