"Last home game of the season, we want to put a good show on." - Coventry City's Mark Robins

City boss intent on delivering for the fans at Ricoh curtain closer against Walsall...

The Sky Blues face Midlands rivals Walsall in the penultimate game of the League One schedule, as the squad sign off their home campaign for another year.

City have won 13 ties in all competitions at the Ricoh Arena this term, but with most of those victories coming in cup fixtures, the manager is keen to give the home crowd something to cheer as the League One campaign comes to a close.

Mark Robins said: “We’ve been concentrating on everything as usual, everything we do is geared towards the game and fitness.

“As things sink in, we re-adjust a bit. Training has been better, I’ve got no complaints. Last home game of the season, we want to put a good show on.

“Bitter disappointment this season, it has been interspersed with some good feeling at Wembley. But it is an all too infrequent feeling that supporters have had.

“There are two games to go, we’ve got to see the season off properly. A lot of things being done behind the scenes. First and foremost, a good game tomorrow. Against a good team.

“Trying to win and performing in front of supporters. Play well and score goals, sign off the home season with a win. There is an expectation, it is what you are paid to do. You’re always being judged as a player. That’s part of the fun of it, trying to do your best and better than your opponent.”

Robins has also revealed that extensive plans are underway for the pre-season summer period, as well as in the planning for next year’s recruitment process.

The club recently appointed Tommy Widdrington to head up the player recruitment drive, as the manager also looks to make decisions on his current crop.

He added: “You don’t want to be anywhere near the bottom four, we’ve got to try and catch the team above us. Two games left to do that. My priority is a good performance and scoring some goals.

“Loads of plans for pre-season, the key for me is that I need somewhere to play home games. We won’t get the Ricoh. I’ve got that issue, we’ll get around it to some degree.

“We might have a local club that will kindly let us use facilities. We’ve got a couple of games nailed on, one behind closed doors. In the meantime we’ve got that little job of re-building, who we keep and who will leave. Who the new players will be.

“I will do as best I can with the circumstances I’ve got.”
