"We’re not having enough shots, not enough of the ball & are not troubling the opposition in the final third." - Coventry City's Mark Robins

The Sky Blues are in League One action against the Dons at Stadium MK tomorrow afternoon...

Manager Mark Robins has been looking ahead to his third game in charge of the Sky Blues, as they travel to Buckinghamshire to face MK Dons.

After defeat against play-off chasing Bradford City and Southend United in his first two fixtures, Robins has put emphasis on a return to the enjoyment of the game.

He said: “We have to try and lighten things and remember why it was we all started playing football and enjoying it again. We can’t overload them with instructions and information.

“They know how to play, we know that there are some shortcomings, but there is also some talent within this squad. We’ve got to try and remember how we got to the stage we’re at currently and work to change that.

“For us, we’re not having enough shots, not having enough of the ball and are not troubling the opposition in the final third. Sometimes these things happen, it is how you react to them, there is certainly a fragile mentality.”

Robins has positive memories of a visit to the Stadium MK, with a 3-2 victory over the Dons during his first spell in charge in 2012. But with a much changed side, and fortune, the manager knows that tomorrow's tie is a much bigger challenge.

He added: “It was a good day, I particularly remember us bringing over 5,000 fans that day and the atmosphere was electric. We need to harness those memories and try to return to those moments as quickly as we possibly can.

“That pressure is there for MK Dons as well. Their home form is probably not as good as they would have expected at the start of the season, and now Robbie Neilson has had a little time to settle in.

“But they still have a good core of players, capable of causing problems for most sides in this division. I’ve watched quite a bit of footage of them over the last few days and they’ve still got some potent attacking threats.”
