“There is still a young squad that is hungry and wants to do well, that brings its positives and negatives at times." - City's Mark Robins

The 47-year old on his first week of training and the Sky Blues' fixture against Bradford City at the Ricoh...

After overseeing four days of training since his appointment, Mark Robins will be back in the Sky Blues dugout for the first time this Saturday.

The Bantams have been in consistent form across the season, but recent loses to Shrewsbury and Fleetwood Town might serve as inspiration for a City side who are in desperate need of points.

Robins said: “There are some good technical players and some decent experience around them now after the January window - Nathan Clarke and a few others.

“There is still a young squad that is hungry and wants to do well, that can brings its positives and negatives at times, but there is a decent group of players. You can certainly see what both Tony Mowbray and Russell Slade tried to achieve.

“You can see the talent and see the players are willing to work hard to achieve success. It is about harnessing that and bringing it all together now, getting them out onto the pitch and showing what they can do.”

The Sky Blues are set to host promotion chasing Bradford tomorrow, in what is billed to be one of the toughest league fixtures of the campaign.

City may take comfort from the 1-0 win over the Bantams at the Ricoh last year, a game where Andy Rose netted the winner from the bench.

Robins added: “They are flying at the top of the league, going for promotion and have been for a few years now.

“They have a settled side, with plenty of experience and a group of players who have been together for a long time. They have a way of playing and Stuart McCall came in in the summer and built on that.”

“They’ve added pretty well in the window, with Charlie Wyke, and that adds to the challenge of tomorrow. If we can execute the game plan we’ll be looking at then hopefully we can have a productive day.”
