"It is important we return to the Ricoh with the same attitude, take the game to them & get the 3 points." - Coventry City's Jordan Turnbull

24 February 2017

The 22-year old is hoping for three points against his former side, as City face the Robins on Saturday...

The Sky Blues welcome Swindon Town to the Ricoh Arena tomorrow afternoon, with Jordan Turnbull eager to build on last week's crucial victory.

The centre-half began his youth career with Saturday's opponents, and spent two successful seasons on-loan at the Robins before making the move to the West Midlands in the summer.

Turnbull commented: “It was a big win, we definitely needed that, but we’re still in a difficult situation.

“We are doing all we can to put things right, and that starts on the training pitch before heading into a game on the Saturday.

“Of course, the mood has lifted a little after a victory, but we all still know where we are in the league and we have to try and replicate what we did against Gillingham to claim three points against Swindon.

“I thought we were fantastic in the first-half and perhaps dropped a little too deep in the second, which could be down to confidence. It was important for the whole team to show that resilience and get the three points after a few disappointing late goals."

The 22-year old also praised the January addition of Nathan Clarke. After joining the Sky Blues from Bradford City last month, Clarke has featured regularly at the heart of the defence and taken over the duties of captain in the absence of Jordan Willis.

Turnbull added: “He is a no-nonsense type of defender, and he is going to stick his body on the line.

“He has been fantastic for us so far, everybody did really well Saturday to get the win, but it is important we return to the Ricoh with the same attitude, take the game to them and get the three points.

“We are aware of where they are in the league, but they will be coming to us thinking the same and wanting three points of their own. Every game here on in is so important to us, we have to take it each game at a time.”
