Fullback Chris Stokes making the Wembley trip a family occasion, as newborn Jesse gets his first taste of live football...

Having spent much of the season on the sidelines, defender Chris Stokes has returned to the first-team fold in recent weeks, playing a part in the two successive victories in the run up to the Checkatrade Trophy Final.

The 26-year old revealed that baby son Jesse will be in attendance on the day, while the squad are excited at the prospect of playing in front of over 40,000 Coventry City fans.

Stokes said: "When you’re a child you watch finals on the television and we’re all excited about the thought of going down to Wembley, soaking up the atmosphere and then getting the job done.

"Since the manager has come it has been a good vibe around the training field, and we’ve picked a few results up. We’ve responded in the best way we can and we’ve got two results in the run up.

"We got there with a good frame of mind, ready to get a result. It is nice to win games, they are in good form but so are we. It is a one off game and anything can happen.

"The younger boys have played in this competition, and we’ve done well. It is incredible really, the fans just show how big this football club is. It is a massive football club. You can feel that around the place and the city.

"We’re trying to treat it as just another game, heads down and train, get yourself in the team. My family are going, I’ve just had a child born two weeks ago and Wembley will be his first match."
