City look ahead to Fleetwood Town clash, as Clarke is intent on 'putting things right'...

Sky Blues defender Nathan Clarke gave his assessment of the away defeat to Chesterfield, after the loss left City at the foot of the League One table.

Dan Gardner scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half, after a fairly uneventful opening 45 minutes.

Clarke said: “It was always going to be a tight affair and unfortunately we didn’t come out on top. It’s ended up with a fantastic strike from one of their lads and it has just flown in.

“I thought we had some fantastic chances ourselves and possibly with a bit more care it would have been a goal for us.

“They had a header first half but we restricted them to very little, just a wonder striker that’s flown in. We have got to look at how we have played, assess the game and get back to a full week’s training.”

The ex-Bradford man was making his second appearance in a Sky Blues shirt, after completing his debut in the 2-2 draw with Bolton.

City are on a run of ten league games without a win, and will face Fleetwood at the Ricoh Arena this coming Saturday afternoon.

Clarke added: “It’s a tough one to take because we were coming here full of confidence after a good week of training and it was a game everyone was looking forward to pushing on and it wasn’t to be.

“I think we’re a good squad, or we’ve got the makings of one. The manager is looking to recruit one or two more and we have got to keep positive, keep working hard and trying to put things right.”
