Defender Lewis Page on City's 2-1 victory against Oxford United at the Ricoh...

Lewis Page admitted it was hugely important that the Sky Blues held on to claim an important midweek victory against Oxford United.

Despite controlling large parts of the match, Dan Crowley’s late strike made it a tense finale, but City held firm.

The West Ham loanee has settled in to life in the West Midlands well, contributing another solid performance on Tuesday evening. He said: “It was a huge boost that we held onto our lead after that first half display.

“We perhaps made it a bit too hard for ourselves in the end, but we dug in and kept the ball really well, and even created some good chances to extend the lead late on.

“It’s our second win of the season, but both have come in the last three games now, so hopefully we have a bit of momentum and can start pushing forward in the next few weeks.”

The 20-year old believes the team are beginning to come together after a big turnover in the summer, and that is showing in their recent performances.

“I think Charlton was a blip, but three of the last four games we have been excellent. There is more energy about our play and we are pressing teams high up the pitch.

“We are forcing errors from the opposition and passing the ball about a lot quicker. I’m sure if we can take our chances, which we have been doing recently, we’ll start winning more games.”

He added: “I think we really stepped onto them in the first-half and they couldn’t really get out. If we can press their defensive players to clear it in a panic then we can regain possession and apply that pressure.”
