Jamie Sterry praised the work rate of his Sky Blues teammates as they earned a hard-fought victory against Rochdale at the Ricoh.
Goals from Daniel Agyei and a late strike from substitute Andre Wright secured all three points as City maintained their unbeaten home record.
Sterry admitted he was delighted with the defensive side of the team’s game. He said: “I think we all worked very hard for each other. We weren’t able to get forward as much as usual, but we did what we had to very well.
“We need to keep pushing on. We managed to get the win today and earn a clean sheet, so you can’t ask for more than that, and we look forward to Saturday.
“I think in the past we have lost games similar to that and gave silly goals away through mistakes or a loss of concentration. It was an important win for the side, particularly because of how it was played.”
With four wins in their previous five games in all competitions, Sterry is hoping a recent upturn in form can continue for the Sky Blues.
“It’s natural that if you get a good result confidence will increase throughout all of the team, and that is showing at the moment.
“When the team is playing well you cannot wait to play the next game and aim to keep the momentum going. We’ve had a tough spell of three games in a short period of time, but we have managed them well,”
He added: “On a personal not I am enjoying my time here and learning each week. I think we are growing as a team and as long as we continue to work hard, hopefully that will continue.”
