INJURY NEWS: “We can only take 18 fit footballers to Norwich, we’re probably missing four definite starters.” - Coventry City’s Tony Mowbray

City midfielder Andy Rose is set for some time on the sidelines, while Marvin Sordell and Jodi Jones are nearing a return...

The City boss gives an injury update ahead of the Sky Blues EFL Cup clash against Norwich this evening, with four members of the first-team looking likely to miss the trip.

Midfielder Andy Rose is out of action with a knee injury sustained in the game against Bury, while striker Marvin Sordell is continuing his rehab from a knock he picked up on the opening day of the season.

Jodi Jones also missed out at the weekend and the manager is being cautious with the 18-year old’s return to competitive football. The Sky Blues will also be without defender Jordan Turnbull as he serves a one-match suspension for the red card he received on Saturday.

He said: “Andy Rose is going to be out for a while. I can’t give you a precise time because the specialists have got to look at it but we’re talking weeks, perhaps months.

“He twisted his knee as he fell and he’s really disappointed as we are. Any time out is a problem for a footballer and it’s particularly difficult when it’s an important player like Andy at this stage of the season.

“Marvin has got the same problem as Andy but a lesser grade; we’re hoping it’s days rather than weeks in his case.

“With Jodi’s groin problem, too, we’re hopefully talking in terms of days. It’s nothing major but we just have to build up his resistance – test it, have a look, see if there’s a reaction and if there is we let it settle down and go again.”
