NEWS: Coventry City Academy products shine during the club’s successful pre-season campaign

Coventry City's youth talent give strong pre-season performances in the hunt for a first-team shirt this season...

Ahead of the official League One launch this coming Saturday, we have had a look back at some of the star performers during the Sky Blues pre-season friendlies.

City’s Academy graduates have been a consistent part of Tony Mowbray’s team selection throughout pre-season, with four of them appearing on the Sky Blues scoresheet.

19-year old George Thomas has netted twice, with goals against Rugby Town and Newport County, having made nine first-team appearances last season.

Both the Kelly-Evans twins have registered a goal each, with Devon scoring the second against Nuneaton Town at the beginning of July and Dion scoring (a header nonetheless) in the most recent game against the same opponents.

Defender Jordan Willis was also in on the action, as the 21-year old opened his account for the season with a tap in against Newport, having finally recovered from a long-term knee injury. Coventry born, Willis has also captained his boyhood side in the absence of skipper Sam Ricketts.

Ryan Haynes and Cian Harries have also been mainstays, with Harries making his first-team debut against Oldham on the final day of the 2015/16 season. Haynes was the provider for a Ruben Lameiras goal against Nuneaton a few weeks back, and has looked increasingly threatening in the newly developed left wing-back position.
