The Sky Blues midfielder is keen to be involved against Sheffield United but accepts he will be gradually brought up back to full fitness...

Coventry City midfielder James Maddison has admitted he will be pestering manager Tony Mowbray to feature in the Sky Blues' next game against Sheffield United.

Maddison completed 62 minutes for the Under-21s in the 1-0 win over Birmingham City and came through the game unscathed.

The 19-year old was delighted to make his return and admits he is desperate to be involved as soon as possible in the first-team.

"I'm delighted to be back it's a great feeling," Maddison said.

"I came through the came and feel good in myself. It was only scheduled for me to get 45 minutes or an hour, but when it went to an hour I wanted to play on!

"I'm hoping to be involved, I'll have a word with the gaffer and see what his plans are. He might say it's only been one game but I'll be pestering him to be involved against Sheffield United!

"We'll see though, there's no rush and I understand I have to gradually build myself up. I'll enjoy the challenge of earning my place back into the team."

Maddison was impressed with the 21s squad in his first appearance for the side this season and believes that Lee Glover is doing a good job with the youngsters in the side.

He continued: "It's good to see how the lads have developed and the first year apprentices who have just come from school are very impressive.

"It's good to see the young lads progress through our very good Academy. Lee Glover is putting on some good sessions in training and he's had a good impact so everyone is in good hands."
