'We can beat anybody in this division'

Mark Robins backs his players to perform against Hartlepool..

Coventry City manager Mark Robins believes the Sky Blues ‘should not fear anyone’ in League One ahead of the game against Hartlepool United.

City go into the game looking to bounce back from the 2-1 defeat against Scunthorpe United at the Ricoh Arena last week.

Hartlepool has brought in former Hibernian boss John Hughes to replace Neale Cooper ahead of Coventry’s trip to Victoria Park.

Robins expects Pools to be at their best for their new manager but he believes his team are capable of beating every side in League One.

The City boss said: “The team are very capable of producing some brilliant performances and we need to do it on a much more regular basis.

“We can beat anybody in this division and in higher divisions as well. It is just a case of building a run of results together which build’s that confidence and, in turn, our performances.

“We had a five-game unbeaten run but then we lost a couple and had a couple of blips. We have to do better as we are capable of it.

“It will be a really tough trip and I know everyone will be seeing them at the bottom of the table and thinking it will be easy for us, but it isn’t like that.

“They have just got a new manager in and that always has a massive effect. It is a difficult test, but a test we can come through.”

Without a midweek game, Robins has had a full week to put the Coventry players through their paces and get them prepared for the long trip.

It will be the first time this season the squad will stay overnight before an away match and Robins knows it is all about getting his players in the right frame of mind for the game.

He added: “We had a three-game week last week and I think you saw that in the way we started against Scunthorpe as it seemed pretty laboured at times.

“We have worked hard in training this week as we know we can’t take another step back after all the early progress we made.

“We have to make sure last week was a blip. It is about us and about how we play. If we can get a result it sets us up nicely for the Tuesday night match.

“We have a great chance to bounce back and we have to prepare properly for that. That is why we are going up there the night before.

“We need to make sure we are preparing right and get the rest we need before the match. We are hoping all of that will pay off and we give our best for the supporters that have travelled the long journey.”
