City boss wants new loan signing Blair Adams to make the most of his time at the Ricoh Arena

Coventry City boss Mark Robins says he wants new loan signing Blair Adams to grasp the opportunity to make a big impression while at the Ricoh Arena.

The 21-year-old left back arrived on loan from Sunderland prior to the weekend away clash with Hartlepool, and with Robins saying he will include him in the matchday squad subject to clearance the City boss wants the youngster to fulfil his potential.

"Blair is a good acquisition for us because there was plenty of interest in him elsewhere so I'm delighted to get him here because it's a good opportunity for him and for us," Robins said.

"He's had Football League experience with the likes of Brentford and Northampton Town and he has what we need at this moment in time.

"I'd watched him a few times before and I went to watch him again at the start of the week for Sunderland's Elite Development Squad against Aston Villa and he was up against the likes of Marc Albrighton and did really well.

"His all round game was good and he created a goal and, for his age, he's got a bit of nous as well. It's a big step for him so we need to make sure he gets comfortable and hit's the ground running."

Adams joins the Sky Blues on loan until January 5 next year and Robins added he wanted the South Shields youngster to make the most of his time with the Sky Blues.

"I hope he can fulfil his potential in the period of time that we have him here. He's the type of player I'm looking to bring to the club and he's keen to do well and keen to make his mark.

"With Christmas and alot of games around the corner he also helps us in terms of bodies and competition for places so I'm looking forward to working with him."
