The City boss also believes confidence is high in the squad
Coventry City manager Mark Robins has praised Robins boss Paolo Di Canio ahead of Coventry’s trip to Swindon Town.
The former West Ham and Lazio star has been in charge at the County Ground for 18 months and has achieved a great deal with the Robins already.
He guided the side to the final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy where they were beaten 2-0 by Chesterfield but followed the Wembley appearance up with automatic promotion to League One.
Swindon are currently flying high in the league after a good start and Robins believes Di Canio is doing a ‘fantastic job’ at the County Ground.
The City boss said: “The manager (Paolo Di Canio) has been linked with the Bolton Wanderers job and that is no surprise to me as I think he has done a fantastic job there.
“He got a promotion last year and they have continued in the same vein this year. He attracts attention because of who he is and what he did as a player. Everybody liked him as a player because technically, he was outstanding and he has gone into manager and seemingly took to it really well.
“It is no surprise at all that he is being courted by bigger clubs, such is the great job he is doing there.
“He is a good character. As a player, he wasn’t afraid to speak his mind and scored terrific goals. That was probably what he was best remembered for but also remembered for being an incredible sportsman.
“He can be controversial, he is flamboyant but he proving to be a great manager and absolutely no surprise he is being courted by Bolton Wanderers at the moment.”
Coventry go into the game on a four-game unbeaten run after putting four past York City in midweek; the first time the Sky Blues’ have scored four in one game since August 2007.
With an air of confidence at Ryton training ground at the moment, Robins has praised his player’s work ethic since he joined the club.
He added: “There is a difference at the minute down here. I am pleased to see that the players are talking to each other as that wasn’t happening enough when I first came in but that’s what a few wins does.
“I made a comment a couple of weeks ago saying they needed to introduce each other to one another and have continued in that vein.
“We have seen different goal-scorers recently and what we saw at York is much more like what I expect. We are growing in confidence so we have to learn from what we did well and what we didn’t do so well from that game.
“We will always try and improve on that performance. It is another away game and we will travel in good spirits I’m sure.
“We are going to be backed by another big following and the fans have been brilliant since I have been here. The away support has been fantastic and hopefully that can make a difference.”
