Sky Blues boss wants to use weekend win over Oldham as confidence boost for Dons clash
Coventry City manager Mark Robins has called for patience ahead of City's match with MK Dons tonight.
The Sky Blues recorded their first win of the season at the weekend as Cody McDonald's late goal secured the three points at Boundary Park.
With spirits high after the win against Oldham, Robins has called for 'common sense' and hopes to see steady progression within the side.
Robins said: "We have to have some patience and some common sense at the moment. A win doesn't change everything but it does give the side a little bit of confidence for the side to continue in the same vein.
"It will push them a bit further to work hard and to work hard for the supporters. Like I have said before, we want to keep that winning feeling and that will hopefully be the case.
"With hard work, that confidence will come over a period of time. I have only been there for a week so really the players and I still need to get to know each other.
"I have to be consistent with them and get plenty of repetition to make sure the players are used to the work I am expecting."
With the reduced 'Tuesday Night Football' prices available for fans tonight, the club are hoping to see a good crowd for this big League One clash.
Robins took time to praise the away support last week at both Arsenal and Oldham, and hopes it can be repeated at the Ricoh Arena tonight.
He added: "The away support this week has been magnificent, both at Oldham and Arsenal. Obviously we had big, big numbers at Arsenal but at Oldham on Saturday, it sometimes felt like a home game. They made that much noise.
"When we come to play at home, they can be our twelfth man. It is our job to give them something to cheer. But likewise, if they can stick with us, it is a huge boost and it gives players plenty of confidence.
"That support can aid a player’s recovery and development. We have to respond to their good wishes and the noise they make by encouraging them to do it even more.
"Things will get better and better. The ball will be on the floor tomorrow night so it should be a good game between two good sides and hopefully the fans can play their part."
