Loan signing Reckord wants to get as much first team experience as possible to help the Sky Blues

Coventry City’s new loan signing Jamie Reckord says he wants to play as many games as possible during his time at the Ricoh Arena.

The left-back was given his debut by manager Mark Robins in the defeat to Carlisle after he came on in the second half to replace Billy Daniels.

The 20-year old completed his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday and hopes he can develop his game at Coventry City.

Reckord said: “I am delighted to be here and I would just like to thank the manager for giving me my debut today. It is an important move for me and for my future progression in the game.

“I want to get as many league games as possible under my belt here. If I can impress the manager and put in some good performances, I know I can keep my place in the side.

“Last season, I was on loan with Scunthorpe and that experience will definitely help me here. I want to enjoy myself here but also help the team get out of the position we are in at the moment.

“It is a great club to move to and when I heard of the interest, I knew I wanted to come here straight away. There are some great players here and I am sure I can learn from them.”

Despite making his debut in a defeat, the loanee is confident the players can turn around the club’s fortunes and rise up the League One table.

He added: “I have only just come here so I don’t know why the club hasn’t made a better start but you can tell they just need to lift their confidence.

“It was a difficult game against a good side but I am sure things will improve in the coming weeks and it won’t be long until you see Coventry rising up the table.

“There are some really good players here and they just said then that they know they can do better.

“I am lucky of course because we go to the Emirates next week and that is a great opportunity to play at one of the biggest clubs in football.

“I am looking forward to it and hopefully I will be playing. I want to impress the manager in training and then see what happens.”
