The City striker hopes to round off a great year for the Sky Blues with his 20th goal of the season against Oldham Athletic...

Coventry City striker Adam Armstrong has predicted a bright future for the Sky Blues after he claimed a hat-trick of awards at the End of Season awards dinner.

The 19-year old forward claimed the Top Goalscorer, Young Player of the Season and Goal of the Season awards to cap off a fantastic year for the Newcastle United loanee.

His goal against Millwall in the 4-0 win at the New Den secured the Goal of the Season vote whilst the coaching staff voted him the Young Player of the Season, despite a number of promising candidates.

Armstrong described being named the Young Player of the Season as a huge honour and admitted it's been a great year for him.

Armstrong said: "It's been a massive for me. The whole year has been excellent and the club will always mean so much to me and what it has done to help me.

"To get young player of the season is a huge award for me. There is a lot of young talent in the squad so for the coaching staff to pick me, it's a huge honour.

"Delighted to see my goal at Millwall get Goal of the Season. It was a special moment for me and definitely a highlight of the season. My goal against Peterborough also meant a lot to come back from behind but that was definitely up there.

"I know I've not scored lately but the gaffer keeps putting in the team which is a huge confidence boost. I'm still trying to get that 20th goal and hopefully that'll come on Sunday."

Stuck on 19 goals, Armstrong will be vying to reach the 20th goal of the season mark in the final game of the season against Oldham Athletic on Sunday.

The Magpies loanee says his final game for the club will be emotional day for him and believes the club can only go forward next season.

He added: "I thought I'd got my 20th goal but Marco turned to celebrate. To be fair, it did hit him and he's a striker as well so we all want goals.

"I really want to finish the last game on a high and make sure we bow out of the season with three points against Oldham. It's important to finish as high up the league table as possible.

"It will be an emotional day for me but a great day. A lot of the fans have pointed out that this season has been a better season for the club than most.

"It's been a massive season compared to last season. There are real signs of progress and I'm sure in the future, with this management staff, it can only get better."
